What is visual literacy?
ReplyDeleteVisual literacy is referred to as "the ability to interpret visual messages accurately and to create such messages" (Smaldino p.52). Well designed visuals will help students to learn a principle or task regardless of language, age, or cultural bias.
What are two strategies that you may use to teach visual literacy?
Visual literacy works much like two way communication. That is there are output signals, and input signals that help to teach literacy. Input strategies help learners to decode or “read” the visual properly by keying on their analytical skills. An output strategy is a way for students to encode or “write” their ideas and express them with others (Smaldino p.52).
